Olive Leaf Extract
Hello all, I am new here! Just wondering, I am looking to ward off any future colds and illness as just had a nasty cold...and was told by the natro in the vitamin shop that Olive Leaf Extract is safe while pregnant...it's also for my 2 year old, which i def know is fine...but now i am home, i have done some research (after taking the first dose) and found that most websites do not recommend it during preg. A couple of sites said to take half dose while preg... but those were regular people, not Dr's saying that. Just wondered if anyone here has taken it during pregnancy? thanks...

Yep, I have taken it and give it to my children too (even when they were babies). These kind of things often say do not take while pregnant because they can't do controlled trials to look at the side effects - companies can't very well experiment on pregnant women! so until there is enough evidence over time to say it is safe they are playing on the safe side.
Of course, I would not take these kind of things without professional guidance such as a homeopath or naturopath.

I've been told by both a herbalist whom I trust and know well (she researches and phones companies etc to double and triple confirm her information for me cause I'm such a worry wart!) and a Naturopath that Olive Leaf extract is not recommended / deemed safe during pregnancy.
I'm very cautious regarding what is safe to take during pregnancy though. When God wants something special done

It's not recommended to take during pregnancy because there has been no research at all to discover the safety or side effects during pregnancy. So unfortunately, probably best to avoid it until there is further evidence either way.Me - 32

what about when breastfeeding?? i'd love to start taking it again... it really helped with my tiredness pre-pregnancy. also- does it go out of date if it's been refrigerated this whole time? i have almost a full bottle but it's 1 year old now- the stuff's expensive!me (1983)
