Default Pain in lower abdomen at almost 39 weeks....

So for the past 3 days I have been getting excruiating pain in my lower abdomen (under my bump) above my pubic bone.

The pain is so bad that I am unable to stand without crying. i need to hunch over and get on the floor. When I get the pain it can last anywhere from 10 mins to 3hrs (like it did last night).

I called the delivery suite and they think it is just muscular......

I can't imagine being in this much pain with it just being muscular. Every time I get this shooting pain the baby does some huge movements afterwards.

It feel like there is a knife digging into my tummy.........

I had to get my dad to come over last night while DH was on his way home from work as I was unable to look after DS. I hopped in the bath and while it did take the edge off ever so slightly, I was in an enormous amount of pain I was literally screaming.....

When I eventually got out, DH filled up the hot water bottle and I laid with that all night.....

The midwife suggested I see a physio, but I can't see how that will help.....(especially with only 1 week to go)

I can feel the pain coming on again ATM, and I am petrified......

Any one have any tips or experiences with this?

    TIA
    Kylie

i think she's coming kylie... possibly she's dropped into your pelvis more

    wishful thinking maybe.

dont be afraid to pop a panadol so you can cope a little more, you can take panadene too (i think... feels like a lifetime ago!!)

While it may be pelvic instability, I'd go in a get checked out by your OB/midwives. With this amount of pain, I don't think a phone consult is enough. Don't leave until you are satisfied with how they have examined you and what you have been told, including how to manage it until you are in labour.

I hope it eases up soon.

I forgot to say that I sometimes get this 'shooting' pain in my hoohaa as well, which the registra said could be the baby pressing down on my cervix.

Unfortunatly on Tues at my app, I had not started dialating and it was still 2-3cm long....but my cervix had softened.

I am out of panadol (and DS is asleep) and I am allergic to codine........

I am so hoping she is coming Sky, I have had a crappy crappy morning

My hospital is being a PITA at the moment.

When I had called last night no one could speak to me for over 40mins as there was an emergency. When they called back, I did feel like they were just putting me off.....but apparently the 'wheels have fallen off the wagon' there. this was the midwifes words.

I was meant to have an induction either late this week or on Monday at the latest, but because of the amount of flu at this hospital they are not doing ANY at all unless it is a medical emergency!!!

Is DH home soon or anyone to look after DS so you can go to hospy? if they see that you are in so much pain they may classify you as urgent and give you a date again...

hehehee.... Kylie we have stuff in common! Im also allergic to codeine. I find panadeine just on its own is ok though! try it. I find it works more effectively than panadol.

Also, the pains you are describing... they are the pains ive been having... except im not screaming yet! Some nights are worse than others and my midwife told me that mine are just prelabour. Maybe just go into the hospital and tell them how bad the pains are and just ask if you could have a check up to make sure everything is ok.

Did you have a natural birth last time or a c-section?

I just spoke with them...........she said if i wanted to go in I can and they will admit me for the night for some rest and stronger pain relief..........I have nothing in the house other then advil and neurofen plus and I am not allowed under any circumstances to have these at all........

Sarah, I had a natural birth last time!

Oh ok... was just going to say it could also be pain in the scar. I had lots of that a few weeks ago. But it couldnt be for you. Head in if you can, its only overnight and will give you peace that everything is ok, and you can get a little relief... I havnt had a decent nights sleep since they gave me the sleeping tablets when i went in!!!
