    Default Sore penis when urinating

I got a call from DS's daycare today and they said he had wet himself 3 times today and on other occasions he will ask to go to the toilet and only get a drop out but he will be really distressed while trying to wee. The 2ic had a look and thought his penis was a bit red, but when we got home it didn't look red to me. But anyway, he has no temp. But is a bit off, even daycare said he was just not himself at all today, just very sooking and easily upset. I've called four different doctor surgeries and can't get into any of them today, but i have an appt for tmw afternoon. So i'm wondering if anyone has any ideas about what it could be and how i can help him feel better tonight and tmw until we see the doctor. TIA.

If it's a urinary tract infection drinking some Canberry juice may help a bit. What about talking to a chemist and getting something like Ural? Not sure if they have something for kids that's similar??

Maybe even ask if the Dr's can phone you if they have a cancellation.

I don't have kids (yet) but I have had my fair share of urinary tract infections in my time and it sounds like this to me. It hurts like blazes to wee and sometimes you can't control your bladder.

As Nezz said cranberry is supposed to be really good but I took ural (not sure if its suitable for kids). Try to get him to drink water to flush it out, its hard to drink as you'll know you'll need to wee and it hurts.

Good luck and I hope he feels better soon xx

Yeah, they are uncommon in men, but little boys get them more often. NOt as often as little girls, but they do get them.

I would make sure he drinks plenty of fluids, give him some panadol/neurofen (even if he doesn't have a fever, it will help with the inflammation) and just encourage him to go to the loo as often as possible.
i hope he feels better soon.

DS had one around 8 months ago and that's exactly what he was like - brought me to tears whenever he tried to pee. I managed to get him into the docs in the afternoon and started the antibiotics straight away. Until then all I could do was hold him when it got really bad and keep his nappy off, he might pee all over the floor in little dribs and drabs but having his nappy on seemed to distress him more.

Good luck, it's a horrible experience for both of you!
