Default Child with large lump on one side of the neck

Obviously we'll see a doctor tomorrow morning...

Jet looked up and on one side of his neck you can see a huge (compared to him) lump. feeling it it'd be about the size of an apricot. Hopefully it's just an enlarged lymph node but seeing it I nearly fainted.

I need to hear something positive before I strain something jumping to horrible conclusions

When DS was in hospital.. we were in a room full of kiddies with the same thing. Not sure what it was.. but they were on IV antibiotics for whatever it was. I'm assuming some sort of infection? They didn't look sick though and were having far to much fun.. lol.

Good luck! Hopefully it's not something that requires hospital.

When I was about 12 I had my right lymph node gland removed, it blew up more when I went into water and was like a second head.

It turned out to be a cyst full of puss & skin, the doctor said I most likely had it from birth and over time with infections etc it just blew up.

    Good luck & huge hugs

My 5 year old has an enlarged lymph node that is like a lump out the side of his neck. It came up when he was about 2 or so i think??? and after having blood tests and a specialist check it out...basically he could have it for the rest of his life...or it could go at some point. Gets bigger if he is sick...but normally stays the same, but is quite obvious, esp if he puts his neck on a certain angle.

Hope it is something similar for your little one.

    Hi
My 3 year old is the same. His has been there around 12 months now I think (so he would've been 2 as well when it came up). When I took him to the Dr he said he thought it was fine but he'd send for an ultrasound just to be sure. This came back all clear (just enlarged lymph node). After several months I started to worry again (purely because this is what I do best!) so took him to another Dr, who also said it really seemed fine but organised another ultrasound (to please me, I think). THis was also all-clear and the follow-up explanation from the Dr has made me feel better. He may just be like this forever, it will go up and down with illness etc and it is common in lots of children.

Hope all goes great for you too. Good luck!

My BIL had something similar, and his turned out to be a salivary gland with a benign issue that antibiotics wouldn't fix. Corrected with surgery in his case.

Hope you get some answers soon!

He was put on antibiotics which shrunk it a little. He had an ultrasound which showed enlarged lymph nodes so now he had a blood test yesterday and we should find out the results tuesday. The GP is rushing him into the specialist ASAP and was a little too nervous for my liking but it still could be nothing, he's just ruling out the big nasties before we call it nothing
