Default my latest parenting milestone

Just wanted to share my latest milestone as a parent...

DH usually gives DD her bath, but he had to work later so I did it. She was standing up (DH home by then) in the bath and started straining...so thinking quickly I grabbed the washer and, let's say, prevented the brown submarine diving into the water She's never done that in the bath before...DH thinks it was a special treat just for me. DH took over while I disposed of the offending nugget in the toilet, put the washer in the nappy bucket, then we were good to go.

So. That's a parenting milestone I've never seen in a baby/parenting book. If you were writing "Everything You Didn't Want to Know ABout Becoming a Parent", what would some of your milestones be?

The only thing I can think of is catching DS's wee stream in my hand so it didn't get on the new paint on his bedroom wall...never ever thought I'd have to do that

Ummmmm. I was taking DD to her cot (she was asleep in my arms) and stood on one of DS's toy cars. I slipped up and managed to land without waking her up. Problem was that I landed smack on both knees and couldn't move at all for about 5mins.
Ouch.

And well done on the poo-catching!
I've never managed to catch one myself... Seen a few floaters though.

Oh hehe, im so glad DH does the bathing here

I have caught a vomit... when we were in thailand recently DS was extremely sick and we were sitting in the Hotel Lobby waiting for a driver to come take us to the dr... DS gave the sound that he gives before he vomits and without thinking I held up my Dress (maxi dress) and caught the vomit (he was sitting on my lap) to prevent it from going on the floor... Looking back now I wish I had of let it go on the floor cos I had to pay to get my dress cleaned over there and I also had to hand DS to DH, and run to the bathroom holding my dress up so i could vomit myself...

I have also caught a wee stream with a cloth wipe when DS was standing over the kitten and about to pee on her lol.

Lol those are all great...the truly glamorous moments all seem to involve bodily fluids don't they? I remember I was at a friend's baby shower about 10 years ago (so 9 years before DD was born) and this woman was talking about catching her kid's vomit in her hand, and how when you're a parent you just do this stuff without thinking.

And I thought, yeah right, that'll NEVER happen to me

Ummm... I have 2 stories that I thought I would never have to do!!

Number 1: I never thought I would have to scrub my couch after my DD painted it with poo!!

Number 2: I never thought I would have to vigorously brush my DS's teeth after he ATE his sister's poo!!!

Yep - A LOT of pooey things happen in our house!!

Hahahahahaha!!! LOL!!!

Of course!! We share everything in this house.... From food... to poo... to gastro!!!

The funny thing is, DS is now 3 yrs old and is going through one of those 'everything is about poo's, bum's and willies' stage... So, last week I asked the kids what they wanted to eat for dinner and DS screamed out "POO!!!" (because he thinks it's hilarious ) and 4 yr old DD just rolled her eyes and said, "Nate, you've already eaten poo... And you HATED IT!!"

Kids are soooo funny!!!
