Depends on the severity, you can get a script for some medication to reduce the acid production.

Slippery Elm Bark capsules, I use the Blooms 750mg 3x a day

trying to change what I eat - chocolate and lots of gluten sets it off for me (boohoo ) but not always so successful there

I have heard that organic apple cider vinegar is supposed to do wonders, but I haven't tried it yet myself, but I plan to this time - I've just had hints of the heartburn returning and I vividly remember how awful it was when pregnant with DS! So will try anything LOL

Zantac (the strong ones)

I had them with my first pregnancy too. They were on prescription then, but now they are just available at the chemist. My obstetrician recommended them and they work a treat, and they are totally safe.

She also said that it is really bad to leave heartburn also as it can cause permanent damage to your oesaphagus from the rise of stomach acid.

Keep in mind that antacids effect your iron absorption so you may need to up iron rich foods

There are so many different triggers and what might effect you may be fine for the next person. it is about working out what makes yours worse and better for yourself.
