Default tea tree oil or eukalyptus oil and nappies

Is it ok/good to put a few drops in with the wash... will it do anything bad to my nappies (or babies bottom?)

Not sure about eukalyptus but I know tea tree is fine as long as it's not much/every wash.

I use dettol!!

I pop a capful of eucalyptus oil into the rinse cycle once every few weeks. Makes the nappies smell lovely and seems to do no harm to bub's bum. I don't do it every time, but now and then it freshens things up beautifully.

It's oil Rach, it could cause build up. Why do you want to use it? I used to put a few drops of tea-tree in the water for the cloth wipes. It is antibacterial, antifungal and recently was found to have antiviral properties. You really don't need it. Hot water and sun is all nappies need (and maybe a stripwash now and then if you have used products on them).

with all the rain we have been having our nappies have not had much sun time so I got me some canesten rinse, they smell lovely!!! (I tried the dettol but hated the smell)

As Mary said oil may cause a prob with build up.

should have thought of the build up thing... but despite good washing/sun drying etc my nappies still smell... I dont want a smelly baby

Just bought the euk for mopping floors etc and tea tree... my goodness they're expensive... should have waited for replies... now i need to find good use for these oils... and a safe spot to put them!@!

I use a drop of eucalyptus oil on an old rag to wipe out the nappy bucket first, make that smell nice, then throw the rag in the wash with the nappies. It's just enough to make them all come out smelling lovely & fresh, and it doens't build up in the fabrics at all
