Recommendations for an MCN newbie
I'm new to MCNs (well, as this is my first, technically to all nappies) and I have done some extensive research before I've posted, including reading old threads. I just have a few questions that I'd like to ask:
1. I've decided that I want to use pocket or AI2 nappies, is there much of a difference between the two styles?
2. Can anyone recommend brands of these style of nappies?
3. I have read that these style don't tend to fit newborns very well. Am I best off waiting until bub is born, use disposable nappies until he/she grows bigger, and then purchase my MCNs?
Sorry these may seem rather obvious, but I'd like some more opinions if possible.

If you are buying sized pockets or AI2's they should fit from birth, at least the extra small/newborn sizes. If you buy a OSFM you'll probably find they wont fit until bub is bigger, closer to the 3 month mark (but that depends on how big your bub is at birth, how skinny/chubby he/she is etc).
My DD is nearly 4 weeks and quite small (she was 2.8kg at birth) but fits a newborn (up to 5kg) cover and a prefold (they are a bit big on her still, but work ok). I find these work well from birth, better than the OSFM and the pockets I have. I've used these with both DS's as well, DS2 from about 3 weeks and DS1 from about 8 weeks. The covers are sized but the prefolds can be adjusted and folded to fit the cover and then used until bub is much bigger (DS2 still uses them as well).
The MCN world is a little confusing when you first start out! It might be worth thinking about waiting until bub is born and then buying a few different brands and seeing what works best for you!Me - 28

i prefer ai2 , just dont like stuffing pockets , all bubs have different shapes and different nappies work better on some more than others , i would get a few different brands and wait and see which ones fit best , my fave is cushie tushies , its a osfm .

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking I'll buy just a couple to begin with and use mostly disposables, until I see how big bub is (and what sex it is) and then I'll move into using MCNs and then build up my collection.
