Default Has anyone used Misoprostol?

I have been diagnosed with a missed miscarriage and my OB has given me Misoprostol. Just wondering if anyone has used it before and how did it all go? If you don't want to post publicly here, please pm me.

Thanks so much..

Default Misoprostol pros and cons

Using misoprostol has its benefits and its set backs.

One of the worst things I found with this treatment was that you see everything that comes out of you and depending on your emotional state this can be really difficult. You will see tissue, you will see the gestational sack and you will see a lot of blood. It was also somewhat painful when the first parts start to come out.

It also can take a long time. My first dose took three days and only 80% came out. My second dose went for a week and again not everything came out. I was then told to wait another week and then maybe it would all be over. It was a long process.

It was also positive in that it is very quick and doesn't pose the same complications that surgery does. It also seems a lot more natural than having your uterus scraped out. This was the reason I chose to have misoprostol. In the end I am gad I chose this option. It felt better to me than surgery but was quicker than waiting. It allowed me to get on with my life a lot quicker.

Can I emplore you to please, please have someone stay with you for your first dose. It is a very emotional time and you will need help through it. When I was at the hospital there was anotehr girl there alone and it was horrible to watch her deal with everything alone. You need someone just to hod your hand.

Good luck.

Thanks kiandora..
I'm now on day 2 and have taken my last of 4 doses. I agree that the first (yest) part was very emotional in many ways. I only hope that it's working now..

Hi Birni,

I was given 2 tablets of Misoprostol prior to the D&C to try and soften the cervix. Didn't realise that this can be given as well to try and get you to miscarry at home. *BIG HUGS* That would've terrified me but hats off to you for having the courage to do so. I am hoping the next couple of days will somehow be okay...not really sure if it will ever be but I hope that you're coping.

Take care!
