I found out today I am booked in for a c-sect on the 20 March, unless bubs has turned, has been breech for last couple of weeks I'm going to try and get it a week earlier, which is what it was meant to be, as I don't want to be in hospital over easter, and I an sooooo uncomfortable!

I have only sewn nappies, nappies and more nappies for the new one. I thought I'd wait to see if we have a girl. I indulged myself and made 1 pink nappy which is sitting, waiting in anticipation (I don't care what we have). But I do think I need more nappies, but hopefully Will be toilet trained soon.

I may have to make 1 dress in the next couple of weeks, just for practice

I carried both mine to almost 42 weeks

I think im going to try making an MCN as I would like to use cloth part time at home
we will see, a friend has offered to give me a sewing lesson as shes the expert on all things MCN related

I scored some lovely corduroy recently in a rose/musk colour and a stone/tan kind of colour
so my next project is wide leg cord pants for my kiddies......getting ready for winter

THanks Mumma bear for starting a new thread!!!!!

    Nice and fresh.

sargs - good luck with your cs....ouchy - DD went over too and I was sooooo over it - 40 weeks is already too long in my opinion!!!!! Have fun sewing a little dress - they're loads of fun!!!! I made DD a winter dress out of polar fleece = tis tooooo cute!!!

Mumma bear - like the idea of cord too - maybe a cord dress and pants also, so hard to find funky cord pants for kids these days!!!

Won't be sewing much this weekend DH has basketball and is off to the cricket so I have DD all to myself - no break for me this weekend

    have fun sewing!!!

Poking my head in here ladies .. big wave to Theoreticgal and Mumma Bear! I don't do much garment sewing or any nappy sewing - mainly quilting and craft orientated stuff like that ... but I have taken it upon myself to embellish some of my DD's clothes this winter. So I toddled off to Target for some plain tops and this is what we come up with this weekend:

    and a close up here:

Fusible web is very much my friend lol (inparticular Heat'n'Bond lite) and so i trace my shapes on to the fusible web, cut it out with about 1/4 inch allowance around the shape , iron it on to the WRONG side of the selected fabric, cut it out, peel backing paper off, whack it on the shirt, and set it with an iron. (for anyone not familiar with the fusible web applique technique it might be worthy of a Google ... ) I used a lightweight interfacing behind the shapes to stabilize the fabric while i sew the buttonhole stitch on my machine. I'm scared of stretch fabrics can you tell?

Thanks UniMum! My machine has quite a few 'specialty' stitches (Janome Memory Craft 6500P) so after tinkering with a few I found one that works best for the applique! I'm trying to find some nice fitting tops to do the same thing for my youngest DS but everything i find is a wrong fit ... might have to look in the girlswear section next time ... he'll never know lol!

Mumma Bear that's a very generous friend indeed! I have an overlocker but for the life of me can't work out what to use it for apart from tidying hems and seams ... and even then that was waaaaay back when i used to make pj pants and little shifts for my baby girl. Now it just sits in my cupboard .

Lexi, those tops are fabulous. I love to do similar with names on towels, they're always a hit as gifts I've never done a t-shirt though, perhaps it's time to give it a go.

Mamma Bear, what a fantastic load of luck with the overlocker!!

I'm taking a break from the machine as I type. I'm part way through about 5 character skirts. Character skirts are just a full circle skirt that has 7 rows of ribbon sewn on the bottom of them. I do the ribbons at the ballet school to earn a few $ which of course then goes back into DD's costumes . They're not difficult, just fiddly trying to get flat ribbon onto something round.

    Anyway...best get back to it....

Wow Lexi! That shirt looks unreal! How clever are you!

Well I didn't participate in the first thread, but I might try and get some inspiration and motivation from this one.

I am currently (as always!) sewing some more nappies, as DS2 has grown out of the last ones I made him!

My other main sewing project that is going to get underway soon is doll's clothes! I want to sew a whole batch of them for DD's birthday (in July, I'm giving myself plenty of time LOL). I've never sewn any clothing before, I am unsure that I'm skilled enough, so if these turn out ok then I might be brave enough to sew my kids some clothes!
