Homebirth chat thread
Okay, so I know we are the minority here, sadly, but I thought it would be nice to have a place to come, chat, share experiences, thoughts and questions.
I know there are a few members who have homebirthed in the past and a couple more women planning to/thinking of homebirthing soon, so come meet, greet and share!

Unfotrunately we can't afford (financially) to homebirth but have gone with the birth centre and early discharge this time.
Good luck to you all with this amazing journey.

Excuse my ignorance, but how much is it to homebirth? I thought it may have been cheaper (obviously I'm wrong!!)

i would love to home birth but my DH wont go for it. Thankfully in nz you got to birthing units and are tended to by Midwifes only . You choose who want to be your midwife and you birth in a birthing unit (the one i am going to is on hospital grounds so if needed it is there) all covered by the government! WAHOO.

I would love nothing more than to have a homebirth with this bubba....but unfortunately my intended parents aren't so open to it....although have booked me into a great hospital (or so I believe????)
I also have a beautiful friend that recently had a home birth (she'll probably pop in her sooner or later) and she was such an inspiration to me, if I ever decide to have another child for ourselves I would definately, without hesitation give it ago.
But I'm going to be a sticky beak cause I wanna read all about everyones experinces.Me 26 DH 26Together 10 years!Our Princess'sMy big gal 18.08.2003My lil gal 30.12.2005Gestational Surrogate - lil girl arrived 03.12.2009Egg Donor x 2#3 EDD 28.11.2011

i would love my 3rd birth to be a homebirth...just want to get a vbac under my belt in the hospital with minimal interferance as possible. also my house is shoebox sized and a crappy environment...i would want to be able to move around!

Hey Lis, this may be a stupid q but im curious - what happens if you birthed your baby at home after having all your ante natal care at the hospital? Like wouldnt that make it cheaper? Or does that mean you would be freebirthing cos there wouldnt be any middie ready to attend the birth?
I am so curious about the idea for when I have another bub, but DH is totally against it. I had a really easy delivery after a long labour (which I think would've gone faster if I was at home) and I hated being stuck in the stupid hospital afterwards. I did however have a private ob, who I loved and was very appreciative of the "hands off" care he provided during the pregnancy and birth.ME, DH + 4 = our family
