    Default please help need advice

    hello everyone

i had a baby 6 yrs ago born 33wks prem and i suffered from severe pre eclampsia and metabolic acidosis,
we have been trying to conceive now for 5 months and its not happening, i had a check up last week and everything was normal.
should i go for a visit to the doctor and have an ultrasound?
i have 4 kids and 3 were normal pregnancies but my last one was complicated, i was sick during the whole pregnancy and my little girl spent 6 weeks in hospital but now she is a healthy 6yr old.
with the complications i suffered during that pregnancy effect trying to conceive again?
as my hubby and i got married 2 months ago and now he wants to try for another this will be his second child to me as my previous 3 are to my ex,
im starting to feel depressed and sorry for myself not being able to fall pregnant as im 35yrs old now.
any help would be much appreciated thanks

Have you had your hormone levels checked at the right points in your cycle? If so were they normal?

How was your liver function when you went to the doc?

Have you had any blood pressure problems since your last pregnancy?
Blood pressure problems can affect the quality of your uterine lining.

Pre-eclampsia is basiclly cascading organ failure due to the physical stresses of pregnancy (to any medical professionals out there, yes I know a very simplified discription). That damage can sometimes not heal totally, and if your liver isnt functioning at full strength it may not be processing the hormones that your body produces efficiently, which can prevent pregnancy occuring or not support a pregnancy past the first couple of weeks.

Get the doctor to give you a referal to a good fertility specialist, They'll check your hormones, hubby's lil' swimmers, and probably a scan of your overies (sp? no matter how I spell that it always looks wrong) and uterus. Easy enough to do and it will give you some info to work with.
I think the min. time that the docs say to activly try for a baby (with no resulting pregnancy) at your age is 6-12 months before you go get help from a fertility specialist.

Also next time you get an extended GTT (to check blood sugar) get the doc to request that your insulin levels checked along with your sugars. Its amazing how many women are walking around with insulin resistence, with all the problems it can cause, who are not overweight, or have PCOS, or are not junkfood addicts.

After all that information dumped on you, it may just be a case of having to try a little longer than you would have had to if you were 21, reducing stresses, and eating healthy.
    Good Luck.
