Default gunky ear?

there is really no other way to describe it. L has a boogerish ear.
he has a cold, has had for the past 8+ weeks, but this is a new thing.

i noticed his outer ear was a bit sticky when he woke up from his morning nap, but thought it might have been some smooshed pear from his snack, then i looked in the ear hole (that's the technical term, right?) and it was icky. it looks so similar to his boogers ATM, nothing like the normal carrots he has growing in there.

what do we think?

he doesnt seem to be worried about it. he's not pulling on his ear, he hasnt had a fever the past 24 hours, in fact he's been pretty happy. we went to the dr on tuesday and he said he had a bit of fluid in his ears, but normal for a cold.

Ear infection. Get the doc to have a look but you might need some AB's to clear it up.

Ear infections don't always present themselves as a problem. Tristan never showed any ill-effect from them when he had them - except for the gross stuff coming out of his ear.

I think this remote is broken. I've pushed paused, power, sleep, mute, volume, nothing works! I don't understand! I'm pointing it right at the children!

Ear infection. Not uncommon to be asymptomatic. Will need antibiotics I'm afraid.

he's been on so many lots of antibiotics lately, if it is an ear infection, will it be ok without them do you think?

DD had the EXACT same thing a little while ago. Hun, he definitely needs antibiotics

Hers went away with AB's but then came back a couple of weeks later, but that time the doc just treated it with ear drops, as it wasnt quite as bad.

If you just leave it, it might get worse.

Hope it clears up soon!

Definitely get it checked out, DD1 while she didn't have a gunky ear but she had what the dr called a 'silent' ear infection which meant she wasn't in pain until one night she was in agony all night and the dr said she had almost burst her eardrum she had to go and get a hearing test and everything

Hope it's nothing and the Dr says that the antibiotics he's on should be enough.. hope he's feeling better soon, it's horrible when you get a run of going to the Dr's constantly!

Definitely get him checked hun

I know how you feel though.... if my docs gave out frequent flyer points I would have earned a round the world trip months ago

Do you have him on a pro-biotic?
If you are still feeding him you can treat him by taking one yourself and it will pass through your milk, if not put some in his bottles.

It's the only piece of mind I have gotten with Oli being on constantly anti-b's with his ears a year ago.

Hope he is on the mend soon

xoxo
