Default Ok, so I know I'm the adult here...

But how do you stop yourself from going mental when your 6yo wants to argue absolutely EVERYTHING you say?

According to our Mr Know-it-all...

The sky isn't blue it's green

54 plus 73 isn't 127 it's 13,472

The recipe for tea cake says it has to have peanut butter

You don't spell "tune" T U N E, it's T U A N E

The glue won't dry out if you don't put the lid back on

When you put pants on you have to put the right leg on first otherwise they're back to front

I could go on....that's just a few from today.

I am seriously about to scream....

I think this remote is broken. I've pushed paused, power, sleep, mute, volume, nothing works! I don't understand! I'm pointing it right at the children!

Ignore or repeat "is that so?" in a monotone voice until they give up and go away.

If you're not just venting and are looking for serious responses my suggestion is to always throw back a question to them, get them to justify why they believe that or what might happen when they do it a different way. The examples you've given sound like you just have a very curious and inquisitive mind on your hands and I' be turning it all into an oportunity for some thinking and discovery opportunities.

ie
(The sky isn't blue it's green). What would happen if the sky really was green and the grass was blue? That would be funny.

(54 plus 73 isn't 127 it's 13,472) You know lots of big numbers!

(The recipe for tea cake says it has to have peanut butter) Mmm that would taste interesting. What else could you put in a tea cake to make it taste funny? Maybe some broccoli would be strange.

(The glue won't dry out if you don't put the lid back on) What would happen if the glue DID dry out do you think?

etc. etc.

My 2yo started the other day wit an argument about the rubbish truck reversing;

"It's not beep beep beep, its eeee eeee eeee"

Looks like I am in for it too. I though they were suppesed to believe everything we say???
