Just wondering if anyone has a good basic cookie recipe they could post? I'm wanting to make iced cookies so I want them to not be too crunchy/hard and not spread or rise too much during cooking. Does anyone have any recipes? Thanks.

I've got a recipe in imperial (use phone converter/google for metric) 5 oz sugar- any kind is fine 4 oz butter/margarine 1 egg 7 oz flour- use half SR half plain Add in some vanilla essence with the egg if you like. Or add some cocoa, coconut, nuts, fruit, choc bits..... If adding something powdered, you may want to reduce the flour just a tad to incorporate the dry ingredient. Cream butter and sugar, until light. Add egg and any liquids. Stir in flour and any dry ingredients. Roll into balls and press down a little. Bake in a 170 degree oven for about 15 minutes, until golden brown. If still soft when ready, they will firm up when they cool. This recipe is too sticky for rolling and shapes, but works great for jam drops. Be careful when baking they don't burn on the bottom being too close to the element (I've done that!) |
