Great Cakes

Little Bit's great Spiderman cake made me think it would be nice to start a thread where we could show off any cakes we have made for birthdays or special occassions and share recipes and tips on making them.

I made my first cake on Wednesday. A practice run for the cake I want to make DS for his birthday but not a cow. I'm really proud of it so wanted to show it off

What wonderful jobs ladies !!

I am not known as a 'skilled' person, but I will have a go at anything. Making the kids birthday cakes is something I really enjoy doing and am very patient at getting it just right.. I love the look on their face........................it is absolutely priceless. Here are my accomplishments so far. Since DS #1 started preschool he now gets an extra cake . I bake just a plain cake for their actual birthday and these are all the 'party' cakes.

DS #1 1st birthday cake - a number 1
DS #1 2nd birthday cake - bob the builder
DS #1 3rd birthday cake - a race track
DS #1 4th birthday cake - a dump truck & another view
DS #1 4th birthday preschool cake (it was a chocolate crackle & honey joy croquembouche)

DS #2 1st birthday cake - a train
DS #2 2nd birthday cake - Bob the builder building yard.

My nieces 1st birthday cake - a fairy toadstool

This year the requests have been a spiderman cake for preschool and a Hi 5 cake for party day (he thinks this week anyway). I think there will be something 'wiggley' for DS #2 3rd birthday...........and DD 1st birthday cake will perhaps take the form of a butterfly.
The first bake is only a couple of weeks away.

I look forward to checking out some more wonderful cakes and gaining some idea's.

I loooove the cow Cake, actually we're thinking of having a morning at a local farm for his birthday so something like that may end up being ideal Not to mention his facination with farm animals!

Cant wait to see more creative cakes!

I am going to be making a teddy bear cake for DD's first birthday next weekend. So when it is done I will post a pic and show you all.
