Bottle feeding in hospital
Brief history-
DD1 was born via c-section 11 days over due and I breast fed for 4 weeks with no success so went for the bottle.
DD2 was born via c-section at 39 weeks and was sure I'd breast feed but while in hospital started to bottle feed on the 3rd day with support from the midwives.
Baby number 3 I will be going back to the same hospital I had DD1 in (terrible memories) and not sure what to do as soon as bub is born.
Can I bottle feed straight away? And I don't know how I am to prepare bottles if I'm stuck in bed for a while after the c section .
I think I'm worried about how I'll be treated by the midwives for bottle feeding more than anything.
It's a known fact in our town they are pretty *****y if you don't breastfeed!DD1 Feb 2006 8lbs 10oz
DD2 Nov 2008 9lbs

You can, you'll need to take your own bottles and formula but yes. You ring the bell when you need them to get the water, but once they're making you walk about you'll need to do it all yourself. If you have a good relationship with your GP then get a letter to the midwives stating you've discussed it and have decided in conjunction with your GP to bottle feed from birth.

Yes you can bottle feed in hospital if you want like nae said take your own bottles and formula but also speak with your midwife or ob before hand they will be able to help you and tell what else you will need for cleaning bottles etc I had both my babies in the same hospital with the first they took the bottles for me and sterilized them in this huge dish washer looking thing with the breast pumps and that but then with the second I had my own container next to my bed and used Milton tablets .
Can I assume that your family are supportive ? They should be able to help you when they are visiting etc , don't worry too much about the midwife you could be worried about nothing they might be more then understanding and helpful if not you won't have to put up with them for long.

Check with the hospital. I bottle fed. I had all the made up bottles bought to me (private hospital 4/5 years ago).
Be confident in your decision and hopefully the midwives will not say anything. I bottle fed straight away with my second - wasn't my plan but it took one comment from a midwife to piss me off enough to make me tell them to bring me a bottle
