Young babies who sleep in their parents' bed are five times more likely to die from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome - and experts are blaming bacteria in the bed.

Nearly nine of ten SIDS deaths (88 per cent) that occurred when the baby was in the parents' bed would not have happened if the baby was in its own sleeping place, according to a British Medical Journal study.
The research showed the risk was far higher for babies less than three months old even when neither parent smoked and the mother did not drink or take drugs.

This should raise alarm in Australia because currently only parents who smoke, drink or take drugs are advised to avoid sleeping with their baby, the study says.

Just wondering what others thought about the federal budget that came out. The drop in the Baby Bonus, instead of $5,000 it will be $2000 for the first child and $1000 for ever subsequent child. Also the rise in Family Tax will be abolished, I was to get an extra $600 a year but now nothing.

My almost 2.5 yr old son has had a temp on and off for a few days now and has been off his food as well. Most of the time he seems fine just a bit lazy and sooky, then will get a burst of energy and seem to be himself again. after the first day of having a temp i asked him if he was sore anywhere and he pointed to his ears ( i did this a few times over about an hour) but since then he hasn't indicated that they are sore....? He has basically only eaten mandarins for the last 2 1/2 days.

My question is should i go and sit at the hospital for up to 5 hrs waiting to see a dr (I also have a 9mth old and DH is away atm) or just see how he goes over the weekend and try to get in to see a dr on monday (can be up to a 2 week wait :( )

btw I have been lucky and never had sick kids apart from a cold so I have no idea what the signs are for ear infections.

Hi all..
I'm 27 and recently found out that I'm pregnant with my first and very unexpected baby.
Ive got a very loving partner who is just as excited as I am..

However I'm so nervous about doing the right thing, I'm trying to eat right, sleep enough and cut back my vigorous exercise routines.
I'm usually running every lunch break, hitting the gym each night and playing netball 2 nights a week. I was training for a half marathon in June..
All these things will have to go on hold. I'm also a vegetarian, so I'm trying to get the best foods I can.

I'm very nervous and scared.
I can't see, touch or feel the baby so I'm just hoping he/she is doing ok.. Haven't had any pain or anything so I'm not cared about a mc.
It's normal for me to feel so uneasy right?

I dot know what I'm meant to be feeling.
I've got most symptoms, except morning symptoms. My boobs very very sore last week, but not bad at all this week. I pee alot and am constipated most days. It takes me ages to process my meals.
And it's only 5 weeks in!!

Had my first US last week, I'm having another in a week (6 weeks).. They couldn't see much more than a sack at 4 weeks..

Just wanted to say HI.
And congrats to you all..

And to see if it's normal to be so nervous. :/

Ta xx
