DD recently got flu..... then the following week i got it (last week) and was knocked out for about 7 days. During this time DP had to do the morning & bed time routines and i didnt feed DD....

Since i have been well she hasn't really wanted to feed. Has taken a couple of sucks and said either "no" or "dirty":dft006:

She has had one good BF in the last week after lots of coaxing - (i wanted to savour every moment and really try and remember the feeling of BF her)

I think she has/is weaning and i feel so sad.

I wanted to feed to 2 years (she is 22months) and i just wasnt ready or it hadnt crossed my mind she might self wean, so i was unprepared and well, now it's too late.

My baby (ok i know she is a toddler!!) has weaned and i can't say i am breastfeeding her anymore.....:(

it probably sounds silly to most people but i just don't really know how i feel about it.

How did you deal with your child weaning? were you happy or sad or a bit of both?

:dft006:

TIA

I have been breastfeeding G since birth, 7 months now, and I keep getting blocked ducts. It's always in the same breast, and happens about once every 2 weeks or so - and I don't understand why.

She has 4 b/f during the day, always drains both sides, and has no night feeds. She has excellent attachment and we haven't ever had any issues with the feeding. I had mastitis once, back in the early days, but that was it.

It always seems to come on overnight, I go to bed feeling fine and when I wake in the morning I have a blockage.

I was professionally fitted for my bras but am just about to drop down a size or two because my boobs are no longer so huge - but I don't think it's a bra issue anyway.

Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening? It's driving me batty!

I know that pretty much any food can be a finger food, but obviously some foods lend themselves to finger feeding more than others (and I dont want to spend my day cleaning her, the highchair, the floor).

So what are some good ideas for finger foods?

Hi guys,

I am after some advice. Is the any bottle feeders here or anyone that does both.

I have severely cracked nipples and now have got nipple thrush. The pain is just unbearable. I am getting treatment for it but BF is just terribly painful to the point that i cry whilst feeding, i even nearly cry at the thought of feeding at the moment.

I still want to BF but i need to get my boobs back in good condition so in the meantime I will put him on the bottle.

How often do you need to feed them. I am very new to this as DD fed until 11 months. I do want to feed him when my nipples get better so i also want to keep my supply up, which there is plenty of.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

He's currently having 2 feeds a day, 3 at the very most, which I think are more for comfort than anything else because he will gladly take a bottle an hour after a BF and I just realised that I'm still on the mini-pill (Microlut).
When do I go back to my normal pill, and how reliable is the mini-pill on 2 BF's a day - not quite ready for another bub yet...

I plan to start taking Fenugreek today to help increase my milk supply and in my research, I read a lot of old threads about it on here and it seems a lot of people took Blessed Thistle as well.

Is it necessary to take both or will just Fenugreek do the job?

Thanks!

DD is 11 months and still has 2 breastfeeds a day. I am happy to keep this up as long as she wants it. She has never taken a bottle and will not take milk from a cup either. A few babies in my mothers group have recently "self weaned", ie, they have refused the breast but they were all given bottles for a few feeds a day over the last few months prior to this refusal so its been a smooth transition onto bottle. This has got me wondering. Do babies who have never had a bottle self wean? If they know no alternative why would they refuse? No judgements. Just wondering if preferring the bottle is truly self weaning or just choosing bottle over breast? Does that make sense??

My nipple really hurts when she latches on, (no problem with her latching cos i have had that checked out by a MCHN) and also while she is feeding i get a kind of tingle up near my armpit and it kind of spreads over the top of my breast.

I'm concerned that it could be mastitis (sp?)

Has anyone else had similar experiances?

I really want to fix it cos i really want to keep feeding her but it is really painful on that side. (the other side is fine!)

ok so..... i know that i boil the water first...do you just leave the water in the kettle and fill a bottle as you need it? or can i boil it and put it in a separate jug? or do you just pre-fill your bottles?

do you pre-make formula? i know my sister used to make a liter at a time and just keep it in the fridge...

umm....oh, how do you heat your bottles? ie. microwave - lid on, lid off? in a container of hot water? room temp?

do you sterilise? i have a steriliser here, but i know theres alot of conjecture on the subject of whther it is necessary...

anything else i havent thought of?
