Hi all,

I have weaned Sophie from the breast and she is happily taking bottles now. I want to swap from the minipill to my normal pill, which I have some of from before TTC.

Can I just switch straight from one to the other, without having a period first? I have not had a period since giving birth to Sophie.

Will I be 'covered' as such with contraception if I do, or do I need to have a time of using condoms first when I am not 'covered'?

Has anyone else done this?

Thanks in anticipation of your help.

I have never had them before, but when I saw the GP yesterday about something else I got her to look at them and she confirmed they are chilblains, she thinks perhaps chilblain lupus but regardless there's nothing I can do about them, I just have to let them go away on their own.

I felt (and probably looked!) like a 100 year old lady walking down to the park this morning, what with my dodgy pelvis and my practically unable to be walked on feet.

Hey guys,

I have been struggling with hypoglycemia a lot more lately.

I am on Metformin and find that this sets it off which is weird because I'm on it for insulin resistance/PCOS...I thought it was supposed to reduce your blood sugar, but it's like it's going into overdrive over the last few days.

Does anyone else experience these scary sugar lows? What's the best way to avoid them? I can't stomach the idea of eating something sweet - all the reading I've done suggests a 3 tsp of sugar or honey or half a can of soft drink....when I feel like that, the last thing I want is to eat sugar, let alone by the teaspoon.

I also read that following the sugar hit you need to then follow it up with some carbs...something I am also trying to avoid...

I guess I just wanted to sook more than anything and see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing on Metformin?

I will be mentioning it to my dr when I see her next.

Then this thread is something you should read.

I have debated with myself about writing this, because I know I have some stalkers who would love nothing more then to read something so important and painful for me.
BUT
I have come to the conclusion that those people should not stop me sharing an important message to others, to hopefully help others who are struggling with the idea to quit.

So, I've been quiet ill for a while, over a mth, getting progressively worse. Started with a lil nagging cough, then progressed to full on coughing with plenty phlegm, no appetite at all, so lost 5kgs the unhealthy way very fast, couldn't sleep, every breath I could feel a 'rattle' in my chest, like someone was rubbing things together and rattling it, felt vomiting sick all day, and couldn't concentrate on things, not even driving, that was a danger!! I also fainted one night and lucky my security mate was there and carried me through the venue and looked after me. My BP was sky high also.

Eventually, I found time and went to see the GP and then was sent off to someone better, still a GP but apparently one more skilled in the areas of Chest concern.

I was sent off for bloods and xrays.

One of the possibilities raised was Lung Cancer. My life flashed before my eyes.

I felt anger and scared. I had quit smoking a mth ago, was I too late? Was the cancer already here? Who would look after my kid, What would happen to him, I haven't even made a new will yet [my last one needs redoing] Theres so much more I have to do with life... bla bla all those things that you imagine you'd think in a time like this, I thought, and then some!

It was an agonising wait, a whole week. They pushed me through the system so fast, as with my results also.

During that week I could not stop crying, or stressing, and getting angry. I was constantly hugging my son and each night before I 'tried' to sleep I would send a prayer out to who ever is out there, god, the goddesses of the earth, Allah, Buddah, every single point of worship you can imagine, to just let me be alive in the morning, let me wake up, don't let my kid spend hours trying to wake me up and then not be able to, and have to wait till god knows when someone would come here looking for me because he simply doesn't know how to use the phone.

We all think, "it'll never happen to me."
Maybe your right, maybe it wont happen to YOU - but it very well might and what makes you so special as to think you'll be spared? Who put you above everyone else in the world when it comes to health risks and chances? No one. Your just as exposed to this as I was, as everyone else is, as anyone who takes a single drag on a smoke is.

Anyhow, I feel I'm rambling now, so I'll sum it up, and say that I have now just been cleared of Cancer. It turns out I have Pneumonia. I am breathing easier, a weight has been lifted, I can smile again, I can run around the park and giggle with my son, I can now teach him to ride a bike without training wheels, something I've been waiting for spring to come for so I can teach him. I can now send him to his first day of school next year and I wont have to get papers organised to make sure he goes to his father if something happens to me and I don't have to organise my own funeral.

Please, if your considering quitting, stop considering. DO IT NOW... that one extra drag on that smoke may be the one that causes the cancer! You may not even know the cancer is there untill it's too late to fight!!

You have NO IDEA how it feels to think you may have lung cancer and this could be the end of your life and anytime could be the last time you see your children.

QUIT SMOKING. I know it's hard. But every time you crave, look at your child and remember the experience I just had. It might help you get through it a lil easier.

If my sharing this, something I didn't want many people knowing really, helps even one person quit, then I am glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and shared.

Thanks for reading.

Hi there I am hoping some mums out there can help me, have developed insomnia a month or so ago. My daughter is 4.5 months and sleeping through fine but I now am either unable to get to sleep or if I do sleep I wake up many times during the night resulting in little sleep. I have tried everything from self help books, CDs, natural medicines and sleeping tablets - the later being the only way to get me to sleep but do not want to stay on them. I have seen a psych too but I know all my worry is surrounding my sleep disorder, was fine before and never had any sleep problems. Can anyone who has been through this recommend anything?? I have just started on melatonin to try and regulate my sleep back to normal, not sure how long it takes to work but got no result on the first night. Desperate mum!!!
