After having an emergency hysterectomy early last August I developed a staph infection in the wound site (had the full abdo hister, so nice big scar)..anyways, I spent until end of September last year going back and forth to the dressing clinic at the hospital each day to have the abcess cavity packed and cleaned until it was finally allowed to close.

So it's been a full year since and on the weekend I noticed my scar was burning. Thought I might be getting a bit of a fungal type heat rash so started applying cannestin to it. Had a busy weekend and didn't think much of it till yesterday morning when I got up and felt a nasty burning, stabbing pain. Anyways, it was sooo not a fungal infection but the darn staph infection back again. The scar has reopened about 2cm and it's draining. Doc (not my usual GP, but one at the 24hr surgery) gave me some antibiotics and I'll have a scan today to see how deep the wound goes and they'll decide what to do from there, but something the doc said troubles me a bit. He said these things can "travel" and we "don't know where this one is going so if you get any discharge from other areas come straight back"..

So I'm annoyed that I may have to go back and repeat the whole 'stuff my belling with packing' thing, but also a bit disconcerted at the thought of this thing 'travelling' somewhere else.

Anyone dealt with this type of recurring infection? Will it go away for good this time or will it be likely to come back again? Can anyone give me a clue as to why this has come back after twelve months? Shouldn't it have been all healed and gone after all that time? And why do they 'travel'?? Also any natural therapies I can try to hasten healing?

Hi girls,

About 3 months ago, I was on the medication Doxycycline 50mg tablets, for my bad skin problems aka acne. I only just recently found out I'm 13 weeks pregnant.

I worked out the dates I started taking the medication and it's roughly the same time I got pregnant, but I felt a bit odd 2 weeks or so into the medication (probably maximum up to 4 weeks because I was a bit weary) because I had missed a period. I didn't think too much of it, it has happened before and I haven't been pregnant.. so I didn't worry about it too much but I did stop taking the medication.

Must have been a month or so later, I had missed another period so I talked it over with my partner we dismissed the possibility.. but still I had that feeling that I was pregnant.

I went to my doctors about a week and a half ago and found out I was pregnant, I told the doctor "approx" anywhere from 6-9 weeks *at that time I was unaware I had been pregnant for so long*, had a blood test which I do get results this Monday.. had an ultrasound and bang I found out I was 13 weeks!

I'm just a bit worried that the early most important stages of taking the medication I was pregnant, might this have some affects on the baby? I am going to talk to my doctor on Monday, but the feeling inside my baby could have some sort of defect or problem brings me to tears. Has anyone else experienced anything like mine? Been on the same medication?

The sickening feeling my child could have some problems worries me. Please someone anyone, get back to me.:dft006:

I know this might sound really dumb, but I worry about whether having a laptop on your lap for extented periods of time may cause health problems from the EMR it gives out (yeah, I know it's very low levels but what can long term exposure do?)

The reason I ask is this- three years ago I bought my first laptop. Loved it! used it for a couple hours everyday on my lap. I noticed I used to get this bloated, warm, uncomfortable feeling in my lower abdomen after using it though (after a couple of months). I wondered then if it could cause health problems but dismissed the worries because everyone uses them, they're called 'laptops' for a reason and must be safe to have on your laps, right?

Anyway after about three months of use I noticed a change in the flow of my monthly cycle, heavier...then bad period pains when I'd always had an easy three day and over cycle and never any problems. Gradually it got worse and despite the niggling at the back of my mind that the laptop might have something to do with it I continued to use it the same. Anyway long story short- things got worse and worse until I ended up having to have an emergency hysterectomy last year.

Still use the laptop the same as I put it down to coincidence that my troubles started after getting the laptop. now, last couple of months I've been waking at 5am and I lay in bed using the laptop for an hour each day before getting up and starting the day, thats my time and I enjoy it. I lay on my back and the laptop is kid of leaning on my bent legs with the front of it resting just under my rib cage...Now I have developed a simular warm bloated feeling on my right side under my ribs and some symptoms of gall bladder problems.

So anyway coincidence? What do you think? I'm also asking because my daughter has started using a laptop and there's this worry niggling at the back of my mind that maybe, just maybe laptops aren't as safe as we'd like them to be. I mean if they are saying mobile phones disrupt brain cells then couldn't wireless laptops do the same?

Ok I know its late and I prob wont get many replies before i go to bed but what the hell.

I had a nap today and when I woke up I was achey all over and had developed a pretty bad migraine and a moderately high temp (around 38-39). I took panadol and drank a lot of water and i started to feel a tiny bit better.

Fast forward over 3 hours and I have got home from being out, While I was out i was experiencing very hot flushes and then the extreme chills that made my teeth chatter. This is still happening now (been home for an hour) despite taking panadol. My temp is 39.6 degrees and i am so sore everywhere even typing this is causing me extreme discomfort that almost has me in tears.

I originally thought the aches were from playing beach volleyball for the first time in almost a year last night, but now added with the temp and the migraine I am not so sure.

Does anyone have any ideas?? I am trying not to dr google but i also have to decide if DH can take my car to work tomorrow or if i will need it to visit the dr...

Sorry, experiencing another severe chill. I have no idea hwo to bring the temp down as the only time i have large temps are when i am quite sick and then i head to the dr.,..

(Also i am TTC and in the TWW - will a high temp like this affect my chances ?? Or am i being silly and worrying over nothing?)

About a week ago, I used my usual Avon moisturiser. It's the green Anew one. I have used it before and never really had any issues, except for when I first used it after healing all the burnt skin around my eyes after an accident I had. It caused a bit of irritation but it never really happened again after that...

Anyway...last week, I wake up with these...welts all over my eyelids and under my eyes on that delicate skin there. It is red and itchy and irritated and I can't help but scratch and rub and it stings. :dft006:

I laid off the makeup and moisturising for a week and it was starting to go all sort of scaly and heal....but today it's back worse than EVER!

So now I'm wondering if it could be some sort of hayfever- is it possible for hayfever to cause itchy irritated skin around the eyes? It's getting worse to the point where I can't hack it anymore and need some sort of cream to help.

I am willing to try and drive to Melb to find a 24 hour pharmacy and put something on this.

So, hayfever sufferers, do you think this could be hayfever?

And if any Melb girls know of any 24 hour pharmacies, please dish. Or any natural remedies, please help. I'm desperate. :001:
