Totally Agree with you Lynda. I simplified with DS, didn't even have a change table actually! I used the bed
I'm glad I had a few extras with DD... cos I learnt I didn't need the Stuff!

You can always try buying the real basics and then buying for baby as you find the need.

You're probably right, Lynda, about the baby stores but they'll be a good starter for some info. On the slings - did you use them alot and did you find them hard on your back/shoulders? I like the idea of them but it sounds like they could become a pain in the neck (literally).

If worn properly, the slings shouldn't be painful. You'd have to try before you buy and all that.

i bought stuff with more kids in mind

so i bought a s and s capsule and figure after using for 3 kids and selling i will make my money back and prob come out better. my DD was in hers until 7 months.

i got a cot that is a 2 in 1 so at some point it will be used as a toddler bed too

clothes i just bought stuff on the cheap from ebay and babies and kids markets

the pram i just bought something cheap no frills, fancy brand name and had everything i wanted

toys and "good clothes" you will get from family

A good sling will not hurt you one bit and depending on what you buy, you can use it from newborn till they're toddlers. I still carry my 14 month old DD every day but then I'm a bit of a carrier nut

My one advice regarding carriers would be that don't go to a mainstream baby store to get one because most of them only stock crappy carriers that will hurt your back and become totally unusable within couple of months.

I really wish I had bought a pram travel system to go with my capsule instead of my pram with bassinette and stroller attachments because DD used to fall asleep in the car all the time and most often I couldn't transfer her out without waking her up and she loved her capsule so could've just done with that instead of the whole pram!!

I had the Safe and Sound Unity capsule that goes up to 12kg so DD was in it for the first year till she got too tall for it (still well within the weight limit) and after that I moved her into MaxiRider which goes from 8-26kgs so now I don't have to get her another car seat anymore.
