Why would anyone want their daughter to look like a grown women with makeup and high heels? i mean for a fun dressup at home maybe, but out on public display where all kinds of sicko's can drool over them??? I'm feeling pretty repulsed by those pics, and the poor babies look like they hate it.

OMG I honestly just gagged.

How sad is it that I flicked across one pic and actually thought it was a barbie doll not a real little girl. I just shocked my own brain that is some scary scary stuff.

I found this link a few weeks ago. I thought they were all dolls until I was half way through the page. There is one normal photo of a little girl. All the rest have dead, soulless eyes.

This set of videos really upset me. They feature a family of five girls including twins who compete against each other. The mother is so biased in favour of one of the twins (who is just like Mommy) to the extent that the other twin is put down even when she does well. The father doesn't like pagents but won't stop his wife from traumatising the kids

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5

The last 30 second of part 5 is heart breaking.

How sad is that mother, putting down her daughter over the other. I may be wrong but that is how I interpreted it Ill have to watch them again

that is disgusting and I agree they all look so miserable They are children/babies why make them into mini drag queens? Says alot about their mothers and their insecurities and their need to be validated through their children....so so sad.

Oh and I watched a couple of those parts of the pagent thing, that mother of those twins - I have no words for how horrible she is to her poor daughter. And the last bit, did the mother tell the other one that she had won because she is her favourite?? I rarely call people bad mothers but she comes very very close....so much for a parents unconditional love grrrr

they do have pageants here but i dont think there the same as american ones. i think its a bit more toned down!!

Rox - Isn't she the pits! I watched it and thought, what kind of mother can sit and critique their child like that, don't we all think our kids are just gorgeous regardless? I know I have 1 daughter and 1 son but even if I had 5 girls like that woman, I would never compare them to each other and say this one has a big nose etc. And how much does she rate herself because the one she 'loves' she thinks is a mini her. I feel sorry for both girls because the one who is favoured is probably going to be just as messed up as the other one but just in a different way

2 things immediately struck me about the first website:

1 - the kids all look so miserable and sad and just 'wrong', and that's without even venturing into how wrong the clothes/makeup and hair etc is

2 - that sort of site is just complete paedophile fodder and I would be really reluctant to have my child 'displayed' and 'sexualised' like that

I am very against the sexualisation of children, esp little girls, which is why my DD is not allowed Bratz dolls, has restrictions on the clothing she wears (ie not age appropriate clothing is not allowed) and she is not allowed make up etc. At most, as a treat, she gets pale pink nail polish on her toe nails when I do mine.

It's funny this should come up now as my husband and I have been having this exact discussion because the instructions have come home from my DD's dance place about the requirements for the end of year concert. She must wear foundation and red lipstick and have her hair styled a certain way. My hubby thinks it is a little too 'jon benet ramsay' for a 5 year old. But the show is on at a theatre under theatre lights and I understand that otherwise they would look 'washed out'/be hard to see. I only agree to it because the performances themselves are age appropriate - she has a little ballet routine and her jazz routine is to the "Monster Mash' and they are dressed in monster suits. Had the routines been 'too grown up' and the make up itself more of a focus then I might have had more concerns.

Plus I hated dancing and all things 'stage' related when I was little, so no frustrated stage parent here - she's doing dancing because she asked to and she will do it for as long as she wants to do it she can and to the level/commitment which gives her enjoyment. Her ability/winning has nothing to do with it for us.

How sad that these little girls live this life....

Andrea
