Default Ectopic Pregnancy???

Ladies

I am just wondering if anyone can tell me about ectopic pregnancy. I am not in any pain but sometimes a feel a slight pulling pain when I stretch or stand up too quick near my ovaries. I was wondering if I could have an ectopic or if I would have known by now. I am currently 9 weeks and I thought I would be in quite some pain by now. I ahve a scan on Monday but needed you expertise...

Mods please move if in wrong section.

TIA

I would say its a ligament stretching thats giving you the discomfort.

If you become in more serious pain then hop off to the ER. . . better safe than sorry

Hugs and good luck for your scan on Monday xx

It really varies, but what your experiencing can be ligament pain, completely normal. My ectopic was painless, I had spotting and dodgy Hcg levels. Have you had blood work done to monitor your Hcg levels at any point? if they increased as they should you're probably fine. If you get pain in your shoulder, go to the hospital.
I'm sure you're fine, pregnancy is FULL of aches and pains!

As said above everyone is different.....

With my first one i had weird pain, kind of cramping, feeling really like i needed to do a poo, and then pain when trying to pass urine. I had dark spotting, which was my first sign.

My second ectopic i had no pain, just the bleeding and knew what it was.

I had regular blood tests to monitor Bhcg levels.

Mine were both around 6.5 to 7 weeks. I would imagine 9 weeks you would be experiencing more symptoms if it was an ectopic, ie more pain and some bleeding, but that is just from my experience.

But as said previously, if you develop shoulder tip pain or more severe abdo pain, pain when urinating or bleeding go to your doctor/hosp for a blood test.

hope it is all ok. xx

Rach,

you need to stop worrying. I know this won't happen til you have the scan but everything is ok. i get the pulling sensations in the morning and it can be quiet sharp if is stretch a certain way.

Regards of your "somethig is wrong" thoughts everything is fine and Baby is growing healthly inside and moving all your organs around.

rach, sounds like plain pregnancy to me!

i havent had an ectopic, so i cant compare, but i get aches and twinges like this all of the time. if its a pain, lasting and owchie, get it checked out.

if you are wanting reassurance, call your caregiver (obs, middy GP) and tell them. they might book you in for an US or somehting

i had the exact same feelings when i was around 10 weeks. My doc sent me off for a scan that arvo and all was fine. She said it was most probably stretching pains. The ultrasound woman also said that. So try not to worry. we gets lots of niggly little pains in early pregnancy.

The corpus luteum (this is the follicle from which the ovum was released from) also continues to secrete hormones for 2-3 months following fertilisation. When it break downs it can cause pains and tensions in the area not unlike o pains but maybe more intense. I had this after IVF.

Hi Rach,

Hope all is well and you are feeling better about things. Just for your info...

Ectopic pregnancy usually becomes symptomatic at between 5 and 7 weeks with rupture occurring usually at between 8 and 12 weeks though of course there are exceptions. If it rupture the pain is unbearable so you would know about it!!!

If you would like to read more about symptoms of ectopic pregnancy I would recommend this site:

Ectopic Pregnancy Trust ~ Symptoms

The chances are much greater in favour of normal early pregnancy!

Best wishes,

Tabby
