    Default Question for Melbourners

    Hi All,

We've just recently moved to Melbourne... am and wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a recycling centre around somewhere?

We have sooooo much recycling (packing boxes being a small part of it) and our recycling bin is already full (pick up not before next Sunday).

Is there somewhere I can take it?

We'll also be having a stack of stuff come from both overseas and from Queensland over the next few weeks and so we'll continue to have huge amounts of things to get rid of for quite some time.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

depends where you are in melbourne, but the first port of call is to ring your local council - there are recycling transfer stations where you can take recycling in most municipalities. You will usually have to pay a fee though - otherwise do it bit by bit in your recycling bin!

check out your local council website, ring around the dumps, they have recycling, garden waste and general waste. In brisbane they do cost a fee though (about $10ish here in brisbane), otherwise go the recycling bin (you can cut it up and compact it in, it's quite amazing how much you can fit in).

Which side of town did you move to? Some councils do pick ups by appointment, some all at once for the whole suburb. Over this way east one is going on right now and I could get rid of some bundled cardboard for you easily literally just drop it outside my house it'll get taken away.

If you just want it all gone in one lot, check out here
