Aromatherapist in Sydney
Hi All!
(Sorry Marti if this isn't in the right spot!)
I have been trolling pages and pages of websites trying to find an Aromatherapist (pregnancy related), but there are so many people out there, it is hard to know if they are the real deal or not!
Hoping that there is someone out there that has used an Aromatherapist or Clinical Aromatherapist in the Sydney area that they could recommend?
TIA
Kate

Hi Kate,
I am a qualified aromatherapist but sadly not in NSW...
I would be asking where they got their qualification from and checking it is a well known Natural Medicine College ie The College of Natural Medicine now know as Endevour College... I would also check how long their course went for. When I studied Aromatherapy it was a 4 year course, though I am pretty certain they have reduced it to a 2 year course these days.
I would also check that they hold at minimum a Diploma of Aromatherapy...

Thanks for that info Wildcat! Pity you're not in NSW

I have done a fair bit of internet searching and I'm struggling to find a Clinical Aromatherapist, I have seen a few aromatherapists and they do have the dip of aro... but wasn't sure if this was the qualifications I was looking for.
I'll take another look, hopefully someone from NSW will be able to help me with a referral
Thanks again Wildcat

Techinally Aromatherapists are not meant to call themselves "Clinical Aromatherapists" in Australia as technically it is not classified as a medical field by the AMA, you will find there is no difference between a properly qualified aromatherapist and one that calls them selves a Clinical Aromatherapist. It does not suprise me that you are struggling to find anything under that label..
The word Clinical before hand has no meaning to the amount of study they do it just basically a med term that they like to pop infront of it..
What you will find is that some clinics will offer Clinical Sessions/Treatments ect that are done by a qualified aromatherapist.
If you look on a registered body IE Welcome to IAAMA | International Aromatherapy & Aromatic Medicine Association inc or Australian Natural Therapists Association ANTA | Acupuncture, Aromatherapy, Ayurvedic, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Homoeopathy, Naturopathy, Nutrition, Oriental, Remedial, Massage or Australian Aromatic Medicine Association Inc - The Peak Aromatherapy Body in Australia
They should be able to direct you to some good therapist in your area

Oh ok - thanks for the additional info, I have checked out those sites, but was looking for "Clinical" - will take another look when I've got a spare second (doesn't look like that day is today PMSL!)
Hey Manda! Yeah I haven't been around for a while - I've found that having 2 kids 2 and under (soon to be 3 kids 3 and under
) is VERY hard work! And trying to squeeze in between all of that some photography and my course - oh and so many other things I think I'm cross eyed LOL ... I have poppped in here and there, seems to be a lot quieter than I remember
where has everyone gone??
