insect bite
DD2 seemed to have got some insect bites on her left hand the night before last and it's all swollen like a well raised bread. It's even got some spots having raised skin with liquids in them. Some have broken and dried.
We took her to the doctors yesterday and she is now on antibiotics with some cream to ease the itchiness. I just wonder if there's anything else I can do. She sometimes still want to scratch it. And the hand seems a lot hotter than the other one (I guess due to the swelling). Also the colour is different from the other hand, being redder/purpler/whiter sometimes (I guess due to the swelling again).
Anyone experienced this before who can share some tips?
Thanks in advance.

Oh the poor little thing
I'd be suggesting an ice/cool pack, and maybe some antihistamines if its really itchy. I hope it gets better soon

Can you keep a light cotton sock over her hand to stop her itching it? Or if you have some light cotton gloves. Obviously you don't want wool as that will make it more itchy.

DD2 reacts really badly to Mosquitos so we have zertec handy in our house at all times otherwise she scratches the crap out of them, she is 18 months old.
Cream on bites to help with itch and try to keep her cool cause when she gets hot they itch more.
Hope yours gets better soon

Keep a contaciner of iced water and a face cloth near by and use it to cool her hand. I used to react badly to mozzie bites - swelling, blisters and once even had chest pain - cooling the area helps heaps.

Thanks everyone for your replies. DD2 is much better today. Poor bubba her hand is covered by broken skin through the scratching and blisters. But they're healing and the swelling has almost gone. I did try the cooling and I think it really helped. Thanks again!
