Secret Squirrel
The last couple of weeks DS has started to hold food in the side of his mouth. We have to scoop it out with our fingers otherwise it would stay there all day. It just occurred to me it's probably not good for his teeth either. I hate to ask this question, but does it sound normal??? I don't withhold food or drink and if he asks for something, he gets it (foodwise).

Sorry but OMG PJ does that same thing!!!!! It drives me insane!! He mainly does it with food he doesn't want to eat and done it since he was about 2 or after when he started getting a bit fussy (sorry can't quite remember when he started). He doesn't do it much anymore thank goodness and is quite a good eater. Once he starts holding it in there, there's not much else you can do. He'll hold it for a while then, I'll ask him to chew and swalled but because he's held it in his mouth for too long he starts gaging. He's improved quite a bit and doesn't do it much anymore, he eats quite well and I can usually hide his veges amoungst other food and he'll eat fine. Hubby used to do the same thing as a kid and I think it's more a stage thing. Hope it doesn't last too much longer for you.

my sister used to do that too! usually it was meat that she found tough to chew. she would hide in her cheek, have dessert, and then be chewing again after dinner!
