    Default Adoption - Qld

    Hi all,

We have applied for adoption in Qld, and we have received a call today requesting some information that we seem to be unsure we can obtain. We were wondering if there was anyone that has had to obtain the same information before and how they went about it? We have been told to get the following checks:
    1. Criminal
    2. Child Protection
    3. Domestic
    4. Traffic

We need to obtain this not only from overseas but from interstate! Any suggestions??

The police would have a record of your criminal, traffic & domestic maybe. Would probably worth asking them. I know you do the police check through them which is a report that covers anything to do with them. Might be worth giving them a call to see if they can give you any information as to how you can obtain the rest?

Child protection would be through where you get the blue card for child safety? I only know it through the school as you need a blue card to even accompany your child on a school excursion.

Sorry couldn't be much more help

We had to do similar checks in NSW only for adoption (but 10 years ago) and did ours through fingerprinting at the police station. I think from memory there was paperwork we had to fill out and take with us showing previous addresses etc but I'm pretty sure this was forwarded to us by DOCS. I'd check with whoever called you as to exactly what's required. Goodluck on your adoption journey!!
